Legacy gifts are planned gifts allocated in advance in one’s Will or Trust. Legacy donors can also choose to allocate the remains of a retirement plan, annuity, or life insurance policy as a donation to Medair’s mission. Legacy givers work one-to-one with a Donor Relations Officer and can choose how their gifts are used.

Legacy gifts play a crucial role in the longevity of Medair’s mission and ensure people in need can access our support for years to come. They create a firm foundation on which long-term solutions can be built and help us prepare for emergencies before they happen so we can save more lives.

Yes. Once you’ve been matched with one of our Donor Relations Officers, they will walk you through your options and you can discuss how you’d like your legacy gift to be allocated. If you have a specific cause or country you’d like to support, our team will do all they can to accommodate.

Our mandate is to respond to urgent humanitarian needs resulting from disaster, disease, and conflict. However, for communities to be more resilient, they need to become better prepared and resourced to withstand future threats. That’s why we train communities and hire staff locally to strengthen their capacity to respond to emergencies.

For example, in places prone to climate disasters like Madagascar, we developed an early warning system to help communities prepare for incoming cyclones and trained staff in-country to maintain water systems so safe drinking water isn’t compromised.

We are transparent about our finances and committed to using them wisely – 90.5% goes directly to delivering humanitarian assistance and 9.5% to supporting management and fundraising efforts. We are certified to the Core Humanitarian Standard on Quality and Accountability (CHS), which demonstrates our programme excellence. And we are deeply committed to upholding and being accountable to our codes of ethics and protection policies.
