WASH Project Manager

Role Summary
Manage and monitor the assigned WASH and infrastructure projects, in line with the objectives, M&E plan, timeframe and budget. Manage and train staff, encourage beneficiary participation, liaise with other stakeholders, and contribute to the development of new WASH project proposals and reports.
Project Overview
WASH projects to be implemented in Ituri Province alongside mainly emergency health focused projects targeting displaced, war affected and vulnerable populations in NE Congo. This includes providing access to safe water and sanitation for the target population.
Workplace & Conditions
The post is based in Bunia, Ituri Province, with regular travel to field locations in project areas.
Responsibilities:
Technical Management:
- Responsible for the implementation, management, and supervision of the WASH activites in line with the activity plan and time frame of the relevant projects.
- Manage the quality construction of all infrastructure structures, ensuring good maintenance and sustainable processes are put in place.
Staff Management
- Manage and oversee the team including recruitment, day-to-day management, development and training.
Financial Management
- Work with the relevant field managers to plan, develop and manage budgets for the assigned project(s).
Logistics
- Manage the procurement of all necessary Infrastructure and WASH supplies and equipment for the assigned activities, ensuring minimum stocks are maintained and items are stored and distributed correctly and timely.
Quality Management
- Implement relevant policies and standards relating to current operations, including national and international standards, donor guidelines and other good practices.
Qualifications, Experience & Technical Competencies
- Higher level qualification in a technical field, preferably in water and sanitation; BSc / MSc in Water / Environmental Engineering or Management or Civil Engineering or Hydrology / Geology
- 2 years of professional post-qualification experience in a relevant field
- Experience working in a WASH programme in a humanitarian context
- Good English and French language skills
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook

- Flexible, self-learner, with good understanding of cross-cultural issues
- Capacity to work under pressure and manage personal stress levels)
- Able to oversee multiple tasks, prioritising and delegating as required
