Role Summary 

Develop, lead, monitor, and evaluate assigned health projects, ensuring delivery against objectives, timeframe, and budget. Manage health staff, oversee primary health care services to international quality standards, coordinate with stakeholders, and contribute to new project proposals and reports.

Project Overview 

Medair delivers life-saving health interventions to conflict-affected populations in eastern DRC, focusing on primary health care, referral systems, training and supervision of Ministry of Health staff, behaviour change communication, and rehabilitation of health facilities. These activities aim to reduce morbidity and mortality despite ongoing insecurity and access challenges.

Workplace & Conditions 

Field-based positions in DRC (Goma and Butembo). Interventions may be in remote and physically demanding locations with a complex security environment requiring constant monitoring

Responsibilities:

  • Lead health project implementation, monitoring, and reporting within time, budget, and quality standards.
  • Manage and develop health staff, including training, coaching, and performance oversight.
  • Oversee budget management and ensure compliance with donor and organisational standards.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, clusters, and other actors to strengthen project impact.
  • Ensure quality assurance, accountability, and adherence to humanitarian and protection standards

Qualifications, Experience & Technical Competencies:  

  • Clinical degree/diploma (nurse, midwife, doctor) or Public Health degree.
  • Strong English and French skills (spoken and written).
  • Minimum 2 years’ post-qualification medical experience, including 1+ year in health project management.
  • Experience in staff training, mentoring, and community mobilisation.
  • Knowledge of humanitarian principles, Sphere standards, and Core Humanitarian Standards.

  • Able to manage stress and work under pressure in challenging environments.
  • Skilled in prioritisation, delegation, and overseeing multiple tasks.
