Door Medair
This report highlights our unwavering commitment to addressing the most urgent and often forgotten humanitarian crises.

2026: Forging the future

By 2026, more than 239 million people worldwide will be in need of assistance. In response, we remain focused on providing the most life-saving essentials: health care, nutrition, clean water, and safe shelter in some of the hardest-to-reach places on earth. We witness these services help people to live with restored dignity and hope for the future.

This past year, we have experienced simple yet unforgettable acts of generosity inspired by shared compassion. When a colleague’s nine-year-old daughter, Elinor, learned what Medair does, she was moved to prepare a 12 CHF gift of her own. In a year marked by aid cuts and uncertainty, her donation reminded us that every gift matters, every act of generosity makes a difference, and we are never alone in this work. Elinor’s kindness touched the hearts of our organisation and gave renewed encouragement. It motivated us to carry on in the fight for compassion.

Together with all our partners, we can bring life-saving assistance to those who need it most. Together, we carry forward our mandate for life and hope into a new year.

2025 in review

In a year marked by significant humanitarian funding cuts, we have gone all out in the fight to save lives—as many lives as possible, since human lives are at stake. I am proud of our team for pivoting and responding to these unexpected challenges staying focused on providing the most life-saving response. I am equally proud of the communities that have found the grace, creativity, and energy to do more with less.
While organizations like ours can adapt and endure, we must never lose sight of what this means for the people who desperately need life-saving assistance. Upholding human life is, and will always remain, our mandate. In many ways, we have continued to do exactly that, which is encouraging.
In places like the Democratic Republic of Congo and Sudan, we have even managed to expand our work despite the obstacles. This is a clear sign that we have not lost the battle for compassion. It is evident, and it is inspiring. Selfishness is ugly, generosity is always beautiful. That beauty is found in the work we do together—with donors whose giving makes our assistance possible, and with communities in hard-to-reach areas who partner with us in resilience.
Beauty is found, human life is upheld, and hope is inspired.
