Annual Report 2025

The humanitarian sector experienced a seismic shift in 2025. With global funding about 40% lower than anticipated, at times it felt like the world's commitment to the value of human life was on shaky ground. I am deeply grateful that this was not true for everyone.

When I attended a community gathering in South Sudan, a woman stood up to speak, sharing something I will not forget:

"When we heard the news that humanitarian funding was being cut, many of us wept, fearing you would have to leave. Many of our women and children would not be alive today were it not for the health care and nutrition you have provided for us."

"When attacks forced us to flee, you moved with us, and when we returned home, you returned alongside us. This was more than just assistance. It made us realise how much you really love us, and ultimately, how much God loves us."

As I reflect on 2025, moments like this convince me that it is worth every extraordinary effort to sustain life-saving humanitarian responses wherever possible.

This was not an easy year. We were forced to close clinics and nutrition treatment centres. We grieve those closures and the loss of trusted colleagues throughout the organisation.

Navigating 2025 has required careful stewardship of the funding we received. We did not succumb to despair, we managed resources with discipline, pursued new funding with determination, and continued to respond with speed and agility. We are grateful to close the year in a financially stable position.

We witnessed extraordinary courage and dedication. Our teams went above and beyond to reach people in the toughest conditions imaginable—from wading through the swamps of South Sudan to stop a cholera outbreak, to hiking through the mountains of Afghanistan’s Kunar province to reach communities devastated by an earthquake.

We are deeply thankful for the many partners and donors who stood with us. Your support reaffirmed the simple but powerful truth that every life affected by crisis carries the same value as your life or mine.
