Role Summary

The Project Officer is an entry-level developmental role designed to provide humanitarian experience to a new relief worker who wants to pursue and develop a career in the aid sector. The Project Officer will provide needed support to the Deputy Country Director and Project Managers in a variety of sectors and gain understanding of the different aspects of Project Management.

Project Overview

The Lebanon programme works across the country, including in the Bekaa Valley and Beirut Mount Lebanon. Medair supports both Syrian refugees and Lebanese communities with projects in Health, Mental Health, Shelter, Basic Assistance and GIS Mapping.

Responsibilities

• Support project managers in proposal development, donor reporting, and the incorporation of learning and beneficiary feedback into project design.

• Assist with data analysis, assessments, and monitoring and evaluation activities, including field visits to strengthen project quality.

• Promote accountability, gender inclusion, and access for people with specific needs across project activities and reporting processes.

• Represent Medair at coordination meetings and maintain positive relationships with external partners to support collaboration and visibility.

• Actively participate in cross-departmental activities and provide coverage for other roles when appropriate, to gain broad field experience.

Qualifications, Experience & Technical Competencies

• University degree in relevant subject or equivalent professional/technical qualification

• Strong working knowledge of English (spoken and written)

• Post-qualification experience in a relevant profession

• Previous experience living or travelling in a development context.

• No experience in the NGO sector necessary

Behavioural Skills

• Good planning, assessment and analytical skills, as well as numerical and administrative skills

• Problem solving ability, ability to prioritise, take initiative and oversee multiple tasks.

• Clear written and verbal skills.

• Strong interest in long-term humanitarian career

• Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel and/or Access or other database skills.
