Role Summary

The MEAL Manager supports the provision of timely and appropriate NFI, Health, MHPSS, WASH and Shelter assistance for the Ukrainian population. The MEAL Manager is responsible for assessments and MEAL activities within the programme. They manage and oversee MEAL staff, as well as internal and external referrals.

Project Overview

Medair Ukraine is responding to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine by delivering emergency humanitarian assistance to Ukrainian IDPs, post-conflict communities and ongoing conflict locations. Projects are in the sectors of Health, MHPSS, Protection, WASH, NFIs, and Shelter.

Workplace & Conditions

Position based in Kyiv, with frequent travel to bases in Ukraine.

Responsibilities:

• Train MEAL staff in assessment tools, monitoring, indicator tracking, and reporting. Ensure beneficiary accountability is maintained through regular feedback sessions.

• Develop templates/tools for MEAL staff and establish a beneficiary hotline. Manage referral systems effectively to address beneficiary needs promptly.

• Collect/manage assessment data for shelter programming. Develop/modify assessment tools and lead cash components to ensure accurate data collection.

• Monitor shelter, health, and cash activities. Develop MEAL tools and contribute to donor proposals/reporting to secure funding.

• Oversee evaluations and promote accountability principles. Represent Medair to collaborate with external entities to enhance program effectiveness and transparency.

Qualifications, Experience & Technical Competencies:

• Degree in public health, biostatistics, international development, or other relevant social science  

• Excellent working knowledge of the English language (speaking and writing)

• 2 years relevant work experience in the humanitarian sector, including management and proposal writing

• Experience in survey design, data collection, analysis and use

• Excellent skills in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word Outlook and PowerPoint).

• Experience with using statistical packages such as SPSS, Stata, R or equivalent

• Experience with software such as ODK, Magpie,  or equivalent

Behavioural Skills

• Ability to work in cross-cultural settings with good inter-personal and conflict resolution skills

• Strong leadership skills with a supportive management style and ability to take initiative

• Strong organisational skills and capacity to analyse and prioritise tasks

• Attention to details with a high numeracy skill, problem solving and document writing skills
