Role Summary
The Human Resources Partner drives Medair’s operational strategy with its people strategy by providing strategic and operational HR support throughout the employee lifecycle. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and managers, the role fosters a people-focused culture, ensures compliance, promotes Medair values and drives continuous improvement for a better employee experience. The HR Partner leads initiatives that improve organisational capability, focusing on leadership effectiveness, team dynamics, individuals and organizational development and HR processes.
Project Overview
Medair Global Support Office (GSO) provides operational support and guidance for our country programmes. Medair’s global HR Department supports the implementation of high-quality humanitarian aid projects by ensuring we recruit and retain the right people and maintain efficient systems and structures. The HR function impacts Medair’s culture by creating and sustaining a work environment where our values are fully alive and employees are cared for through our “together for life and hope” mandate.
Workplace & Conditions
Position based in our office in Ecublens, Switzerland, Swiss or eligible EU citizens, or those with a valid work permit for Switzerland. Travel to country program locations (within portfolio) for 4-6 weeks per year
Responsibilities
- Strategic HR Partnership: Build trusted relationships with senior leaders; provide strategic advice on organisational design, workforce planning, talent development and change management.
- Employee Lifecycle Support: Guide employees and managers through onboarding, integration, performance, development, succession plans and exit processes. Lead the implementation of related processes
- Culture & Manager Capability: Promote Medair’s values and culture; coach managers to lead effectively, build a strong feedback culture and foster healthy team dynamics.
- Compliance & Continuous Improvement: Ensure HR policies and standards are applied equitably and consistently; lead initiatives and cross-collaborate for process improvement and adapt to evolving needs.
- HR Capacity Building & Crisis Support: Strengthen HR teams through training and mentoring of country programme HR colleagues; provide support during crises, including repatriation and family liaison operations.
Qualifications, Experience & Technical Competencies
- University degree in a relevant field combined with a solid foundation of experience as HR generalist or specialist. Swiss HR Administration certification desirable.
- Strong proficiency in English (oral & written) and French.
- Knowledge of organisational management, job structures, workforce planning, and change support, ideally within a multicultural or humanitarian context.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and with HR Information Systems; able to interpret data and support data informed decisions.
- Capable of coaching and training, managing confidential or complex employee issues, applying policies effectively, problem solving, and the enhancement of HR processes.
- Humanitarian field leadership experience required.
