Give a child a reason to hope

A gift of £5 can be the difference between suffering and survival

Just £5 can help save a child's life.

Sei ein Rettungsleine für Menschen, die in einer Krise leben.

In the world’s hardest to reach places, children’s lives are at risk - don’t let distance decide who gets to survive. As conflict and disaster displace families, severe malnutrition and preventable diseases are claiming lives before help can arrive. Medair goes to the most remote places to bring life-saving healthcare and nutrition treatment to the most vulnerable people.

From suffering to survival in South Sudan

3-year-old Mary being treated for severe malnutrition at a Medair clinic in South Sudan.

"There is not enough food. We have to eat water lilies."

Mary is just 3 years old. Her family lost everything when severe flooding destroyed their remote village in South Sudan. They fled with nothing and, displaced without a source of income, couldn’t find enough food.

Mary was admitted to Medair’s nutrition clinic suffering life-threatening acute malnutrition - she is just one of millions of children at risk in a country where 1 in 10 children don't live to see their 5th birthday.

15-year-old Martha is looking after Mary while her mother is in hospital:

“Mary is receiving food here because she is malnourished. We have no food so we have to eat water lilies. We had to leave home because of the floods and our crops died. I felt sad when I saw Mary was so malnourished, so I brought her here for help. Since Medair has been here things have improved. I came here when I was sick, Medair gave me free medication and I recovered quickly. I want to thank the people who support us."

No child should suffer like this - not at Christmas, not ever.

Your gifts today will reach Mary - and children like her - with urgent medical care and life-saving nutrition treatment before it’s too late.
